Home, Land and Business owners wishing to burn yard waste/debris
and/or household refuse may not do so without first requesting and then being granted a burn permit. There is NO FEE
for obtaining a burn permit. This process is simple and requires only a phone call and some basic information:
- Individuals Name
- Location/address of the BURN SITE
- Description of material being burned
- Estimated time of burn
- Contact phone number
Only organic material (leaves, branches, limbs) and simple household
waste (garbage) may be burned. A metal burn barrel or drum must be utilized and it should have some type of screen covering
the top to prevent embers and sparks from being released, which could cause an unwanted fire.
An individual MUST be present AT ALL TIMES to monitor the burn and
should have a garden hose available. The burn area should be a safe distance away from any structure or woodline. Current
and past weather conditions including wind and moisture levels will dictate whether a burn permit will be granted on any given
day. National Weather Service forecasts and local conditions are taken into account before a permit is granted. A small breeze
can cause a simple fire to spread quickly, endangering homes and lives.
Burn permits may be requested through WRFPD District Headquarters
573-774-5449 at the following times:
Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm
Weekends, Nights, and Holidays burn permits
may be requested through the Pulaski County Communications Center 573-774-6305
